Essential fatty acids are unsaturated fats normally found in the oils of vegetables, selected range of nuts and seeds and some fish. They’re said to profit health more than the saturated fats found in animal protein and dairy products and may even have a good impact on cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood. Essential fatty acids are also referred to as "essential" as they must be eaten in your diet and are essential for normal growth and function of muscles, nerves, cells and organs in humans. There are 2 families in essential fatty acids, omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids.
